“Listening to podcast[s], reading a book, listening to an audiobook and watching films isn’t [a] waste of time. It’s how somebody becomes wise”, said Deyth Banger, author of How to Talk to Anyone.

Last week, we compiled a list of treasury management books and their descriptions to help treasury executives develop a more profound understanding of the subject. However, this knowledge-enriching exercise would be incomplete if we did not collate a list of podcasts that cover a range of treasury and payments topics and developments to help you stay informed and broaden your knowledge on the subject.

Conclusion

In a recent study, “Why people listen: Motivations and outcomes of podcast listening,” published in PLOS ONE, the research authors, Stephanie Tobin and Rosanna Guadagno, had over 300 people from a range of countries complete an online survey that aimed to examine the associations between aspects of podcast listening, dispositional predictors and psychological outcomes.

They found that, on average, people that listen to podcasts score higher in the openness category, which is related to intellectual curiosity and preference for novelty. Podcast listeners were also found to have a lower predisposition to psychological stress.

Successful treasury and payments professionals are curious, open to continual growth and learning, and often listen to podcasts to sharpen their mindset with incisive insights from treasury and payments experts and to get the best outcomes for their team and organization.

Subscribing and listening to these podcasts can help expand your view of the treasury and payments world, enabling you to gain new perspectives. You never know, you may be invited to feature as a guest on these podcasts, or even better, get motivated to launch your own treasury or payments podcast in the future.
