Citi launches biometric login for treasury and trade

Citi Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS) has announced its corporate clients will be able to log into its core treasury platforms for desktop and mobile using biometric authentication. Clients will be able to log into CitiDirect BE using fingerprint on desktop or or by using facial recognition on the CitiDirect BE app on their smartphones. The facial recognition using the existing built-in biometrics authentication capabilities on mobile devices.

The new biometric authentication process replaces the multi-step token-based authorisation and instead allows clients faster access without having to copy codes from password-generating tokens. The fingerprint and facial recognition authentication is currently available as a pilot in certain key markets.

Christine Barry, research director for Aite Group's wholesale banking practice, commented: “Consumerisation of corporate experiences is a trend that adds significant value to the users’ daily interactions. Clients appreciate the speed and convenience of features such as fingerprint and facial recognition on their mobile devices.”
