Logica, the business and technology service company, have been building bank payment hubs and payment systems for 30+ years, e.g. the UK's Real-Time Gross Settlement CHAPS, are now focussing on providing corporate payment factory systems and services. A payment factory is, according to Logica, "a shared service centre for payments which delivers greater visibility and control over cash, significant operational efficiencies and ultimately greater flexibility over banking relationships." This definition shows how Logica are planning to bring together not only payment services, but also mandate management and other services into a much wider solution, as figure of the Logica Factory shows.

Payment factories are definitely becoming more important in cash flow and liquidity management. It'll be interesting see what Logical actually deliver when they build their first corporate payment factory.
