CEO business confidence buoyant amid economic uncertainty

CEOs from the world's leading businesses are relatively bullish about their companies' growth prospects and growth of the global economy over the coming year, according to the results of a PwC survey released yesterday at the World Economic Forum in Davos. However, the executives surveyed also registered their concern about economic uncertainty, overregulation and key skills in the marketplace.

The survey found that

  • 38 per cent of CEOs worldwide are very confident about their company’s growth prospects in the next 12 months;
  • 29 per cent say global economic growth will pick up in 2017;
  • 82 per cent are concerned about economic uncertainty;
  • four out of five said overregulation is a top concern;
  • 77 per cent said they are concerned about the availability of key skills;
  • 59 per cent of CEOs globally are concerned about protectionism, increasing to 64 per cent of CEOs in the United States and Mexico.

The video below summarises some of the survey's findings, including the implications for countries and businesses.
