EPC announces progress on instant SCT in October newsletter

The European Payments Council (EPC)'s October newsletter was published today. It includes an announcement on the council's work on the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), as well as news on a mobile payments workshop and a report from EPC Chair, Javier Santamaría.

Upon the request of the Euro Retail Payments Board (ERPB), the EPC has designed an instant SEPA Credit Transfer (SCT) scheme in euro. This would be adhered to by European Union payment service providers on a voluntary basis and will be presented to the ERPB “by November 2015”.

In addition, the EPC will hold a free workshop for stakeholders on person-to-person (P2P) mobile payments on 10 December 2015.

EPC Chair Javier Santamaría also provides an update in the October newsletter on the council's progress on various initiatives recommended made by the ERPB, including the SCT instant payment scheme, P2P mobile payments and the evolution of existing schemes.
