Guide to web fraud and digital identity

Payments news site The Paypers has published a guide to web fraud prevention and digital identity, providing some insights into fraud risk management in both the consumer and B2B space.

Of particular interest to corporate treasurers are chapters covering developments in verifying user identity in the context of increasing mobile transactions and the Internet of Things, as well as the pressing issue of data protection and how companies operating in Europe can ensure they are compliant:

  • Neira Jones from the Emerging Payments Association emphasises the importance of keeping up with the increasing adoption of mobile payments and the 'Internet of Things' and the need to constantly look at the latest forms of identity and user authentication, for both customers and staff.
  • Edwin Jacobs, a partner at time.lex and a lecturer at the University of Leuven and Antwerp, looks at what companies doing business in Europe need to know about data protection compliance, in light of two recent court cases related to Facebook.

Fraud prevention in the Internet of Things

The guide also looks at “tokenization”, “bring your own authentication” and how the Internet of Things will change how companies manage their digital identities.

The guide is endorsed by the MRC, a merchant-led trade association focused on electronic commerce risk and payment strategies, as well as Ecommerce Europe, an association representing companies selling services online to consumers in Europe.

The guide can be downloaded as a PDF from The Paypers website.
