Is the EU reporting framework fit for purpose? Have your say

The European Commission has opened a public consultation on public reporting by companies – calling for input from stakeholders, including large companies, employees and SMEs.

The consultation aims to assess whether the EU public reporting framework meets its objectives effectively and adds value at the European level. It also seeks to test whether the framework is internally consistent and coherent with other EU policies, or whether it is unnecessarily burdensome. The other objectives include:

  • reviewing specific aspects of the existing legislation as required by EU law;
  • determining whether the EU public reporting framework is fit for new challenges such as sustainability and digitalisation;
  • assessing whether other ongoing developments in EU policies affect the public reporting framework – for example, the Capital Markets Union, Common Corporate Tax Base, digitalisation of companies’ lifecycle, etc.

Interested parties should respond by completing an online questionnaire by 21 July 2018.
