The UK’s Payment Council has just released the clearing statistics for the UK for June 2014:

This shows that in the 12 months to end June 2014:

• cheque usage is continuing to decline -11% at the same rate as February 2014
• Faster Payments continues its rapid growth at +18% (with single immediate payments +26%), both are down from growth rates in February 2014 when the rate was +18% and +28% respectively
• BACS (+2%) and CHAPS (+4%) usage continues to grow slowly.
