Western Union Puerto Rico tie-up enables cross-border payments

Western Union is collaborating in Puerto Rico with TuChequera.com, a local digital chequebook platform, to support cross-border payment services.
The US financial group said that its Western Union Business Solutions unit will work with TuChequera to link small businesses and entrepreneurs on the island to cross-border payment services supporting more than 130 currencies.
The collaboration with also see TuChequera business customers being linked to the WU Business Solutions payments platform WU-EDGE. Launched in 2016, the business-to-business (B2B) platform for SMEs aims to promote global trade for smaller businesses by offering accounts receivable and accounts payable connectivity, invoice presentment and payments.
“With our alliance, local businesses will have access to an innovative and world-class platform, allowing entrepreneurs the ability to be more competitive in the international marketplace,” said TuChequera.com founder and president José Garcia.
Alfred Nader, vice president of WU Business Solutions for Latin America and the Caribbean, said Puerto Rico was the region’s first market in which Western Union launched the EDGE platform, which rolled out last year.
