Citi and Maxim Health Systems combine to provide Flu Care Payment Solution

The Citi® Flu Care card is a payment service that shifts the administration of flu shots from doctor's office or on-site clinics to more cost-effective pharmacy locations. The card is only usable in 25,000 pharmacies and clinics in the USA and Citi estimate, cuts the average cost per vaccination by 63%. The Citi Flu Care card uses patent pending technology that allows employers to pay for flu vaccinations just at the time they are administered, eliminating the need and costs of prepayment.

Maxim Health Systems (MHS) is the latest certified distributor of the Citi Flu CareSM card. MHS, a division of Maxim Health care Services, provides health care services in 44 states. MHS's vaccine programme administered more than 12 million immunizations over the last five years. Maxim's clients are now able to make flu shots available to all individuals in every market they serve with zero out-of-pocket expense.

Citi believes their Flu Care card is the first flu shot payment product that does not require prefunding. In addition, Citi uses patent-pending technology to ensure that only flu vaccinations can be purchased. This breakthrough capability both eliminate the need for prepayment and give employers greater funding control and overall health care cost reduction.

The Citi Flu Care card is an important example of how payment services need to be integrated with basic transactions and controls to achieve the maximum benefit. This technology can clearly be used for administering and paying many other types of benefit and allowances.
