The European Payments Council (EPC) has launched a public consultation on possible modifications to four of its payment schemes:
- SEPA Credit Transfer (SCT)
- SEPA Instant Credit Transfer (SCT Inst)
- SEPA Direct Debit Core (SDD Core)
- SEPA Direct Debit Business-to-Business (SDD B2B)
End users, technical players and payment service providers can participate in the consultation, which closes on 10 June 2018. Those interested should complete a template – available on the EPC's website – and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org by 17h00 CET on 10 June.
The aim of the public consultation is to ensure that the schemes reflect the evolution of the needs of payment service providers and their customers, as well as technological changes.
The EPC stated that requests for change that find broad acceptance in the overall payment community, and that are technically and legally feasible, will be taken forward. The updated rulebooks and implementation guidelines will be published in November 2018 and will enter into force one year later.
